Settings and privacy

What you share, what stays yours, and how to make the app fit the way you move.

Who can see what

Three separate settings control how visible you are, all under Settings & Info → Privacy Settings in the app menu.

Selfie sharing

• Just me — only you, under My selfies.
• Private teams — only the private teams you belong to.
• Public — the whole Run Across America community, including the season gallery.

Activity sharing and Achievement sharing

• Just me — nobody else sees them.
• Private teams — only the private teams you belong to.
• All teams — every team you're in, featured ones included.

What stays private?

• Your effort rating. It's marked private on the form and nobody ever sees it — it's there for you to look back on, not for anyone to judge.
• Your notes, unless you switch on Share notes with teams for a specific activity. Your activity sharing setting still applies on top.

If I set everything to "Just me," am I still taking part?

Completely. Your distance still counts toward your goal and your team's total, you still earn badges, and your streak keeps going. You just won't appear in the feeds. Plenty of people move better without an audience, and that's absolutely fine.

General settings

• Show release notes — see what's new after each update.
• Auto import Strava activities — a reminder, while you're in the app, that Strava has something new to import. You still pick what comes in.
• Use robot voice for in-app tracker — swap the default voice while you're tracking.
• Reminders — a nudge to log your activity. Pick which days and what time, so it lands when it actually helps.
• Selfie saving — save selfies to your camera roll always, never, or with a prompt each time.

Notifications

• Season notifications — reminders when it's time to start, plus the announcements worth knowing about.
• Comment notifications — comments on your activities and in threads you're part of.
• Team goal expired alert — a heads up when a private team goal runs out.

Want to adjust just one team? Use the bell icon on that team's page rather than these app-wide switches.

I turned notifications on but nothing arrives.

Your phone's own permission has to be granted as well — see Troubleshooting.

Emails

You can switch off the Badge Earned and Season Progress emails independently in the same settings screen. We'd rather you got two emails you actually want than a dozen you don't.

Your profile

Open Profile from the menu to change your photo, and tap the edit icon to update your name, state, age, gender and email. That screen also links to our Privacy Policy and holds Delete Account, which is permanent.

State, age and gender are only used to power the leaderboard — nothing else.
