Team Spotlight: Kansas Food Bank

The team at Kansas Food Bank has done amazing work to help fight hunger during these challenging times. Team captain Kate says, they will complete the Run Across America to celebrate all their team has accomplished in the past year and to highlight continued needs in the fight to end hunger. Here's the full story from Kate:

Heroes in the fight against hunger

"When the pandemic hit, the need for food assistance immediately jumped 30% to 49% across Kansas. Many people who never thought they would ever need help feeding their families found themselves needing help for the first time.
2020 found us opening doors to food access to more than 54,000 new families across Kansas, bringing our total families served to 289,959. We worked closely with our partner agencies across the state to make sure Kansans had access to the help they needed. In 2020, our staff of 29 distributed 18,679,435 pounds of food to 85 counties in Kansas, up a remarkable 18% from 2019.
Come June 12, our team will be walking a route between many of our partner agencies in downtown Wichita, highlighting the continued need for help to end the fight against hunger. Run Across America will be a celebration of all our team has accomplished throughout the pandemic, and all the work we still have left to do moving forward. It’s going to be a great day!"
